Q: What do you love most about what you do?
A: I understand first-hand the huge psychological importance of hair. Being able to help people feel good about themselves on a daily basis is what I love most!
Q: What is the most important piece of advice that you would give to people about taking care of their hair and scalp?
A: I would say a healthy, well balanced diet. No matter what products you use on your hair, or how fabulous your stylist, your hair won’t look its best if you aren’t nourishing it from within.
Q: What is your selection process for creating the very best products in scalp and hair care?
A: All of our products are based on expert clinic formulations and are overseen by the world’s top trichologists. What’s more, we rigorously test our products at our trichological clinics in both London and New York to ensure the best possible end benefit. It can take months or years – results and ingredients/formulas that really work are what matter to us, not rushing new products into the market.
Q: If there was one type of product that you would recommend as "splurge worthy" in hair care maintenance, which do you think is the most important in the process?
A: Elasticizer. I have fine, bleached hair and this pre-shampoo conditioning treatment is a complete life-saver. I sleep with it in twice a week to prevent breakage and restore bounce, moisture and shine. I can’t recommend or rave about this product enough – it’s suitable for all hair textures, results are immediate and improve with continued use.
Q: Did you have an aha moment in your career? What was it?
A: I think every day has an aha moment! It is really remarkable how many people have questions about their hair and scalp when they hear about trichology and what we do at Philip Kingsley. The interest in scalp health and holistic approaches are growing immensely and I get to see that on a day-to-day basis.
